The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is a forward-thinking, independent US foreign assistance organization fighting global poverty. MCC, which the United States Congress established in January 2004 with strong bipartisan support, MCC has changed the conversation on how best to deliver competent U.S. foreign assistance by focusing on good policies, country ownership, and results.
The Corporation makes time-limited grants to promote economic growth, poverty reduction, and institutional strengthening.
MCC grants are designed to complement other U.S. and international development programs and create an enabling environment for private sector investment.
It is committed to gender integration and social inclusion. It seeks to maximize girls’ and women’s educational, employment, and entrepreneurial opportunities by improving access to education and training, developing capacities, training teachers and community leaders, encouraging government reforms, and increasing community and private sector involvement.
