Professional preparation for the WorldSkills vocational championships

The best skilled workers compete against each other at the international WorldSkills championship. This requires intensive preparation with suitable rooms and learning systems. The Centre of Vocational Excellence in Mechatronics at Festo in Esslingen (Germany) is now the official national training center for the German mechatronics team at the WorldSkills Shanghai championships. Festo was awarded this certification by WorldSkills Germany who seeks to send the best skilled German apprentices to the WorldSkills Shanghai competitions. “We do not only qualify our own apprentices, but also apprentices of other companies who will make up the national mechatronics team at the next WorldSkills Shanghai 2022,” says Stefan Dietl, Head of Vocational Education at Festo. The certificate was presented at Festo in Esslingen as part of the welcoming ceremony for the new apprentices. They were directly made aware of the exciting WorldSkills events and their chance to participate one day – a great motivation for them.

In the future, Germany’s best mechatronics engineers of any company will train for international vocational competitions at the Festo Certified Centre of Vocational Excellence in Mechatronics. The basis for the WorldSkills competitions in skill #04 Mechatronics and the mechatronics training, in general, is the Modular Production System (MPS) of Festo Didactic. WorldSkills has been relying on this mechatronic learning solution used in competitions since 1991.
