HY+ Supporting Ukrainian School Reform

University of Helsinki Centre for Continuing Education HY+ is participating in Finland’s Support of the Ukrainian School Reform project launched by FCG International and funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. University of Helsinki’s Faculty of Educational Sciences also participates in the project.

The Finnish Support of the Ukrainian School Reform project, supports the national secondary school reform “New Ukrainian School” which was introduced on 21 August 2018. The aim of the
project is to improve the quality of education as well as the citizens’ perception of Ukrainian education.

According to the Ukranian Minister of Education and Science,  Ms Liliia Hrynevych, there is strong political support of the school reform programme in the Ukraine. “The Finnish Programme has been a long-waited initiative”, she comments.

Mr Arto Vaahtokari, Chief Technical Advisor, also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Helsinki Teacher Training School, is leading the Finnish expert team. He has now been working in the Ukraine for two months. According to him, Ukrainian colleagues are very committed to reform the country’s school system.
