IVETA History and Adminstration

IVETA was conceived in 1984 by a group of technical and vocational educators who wanted to facilitate the sharing of knowledge between developing and developed countries. The constitution was adopted in 1985 at a General Assembly and provides for the election of the Executive Committee  to manage. The Executive committee is composed of 13 officers who serve two-year terms and include a: President, President Elect, Past President,  Executive Secretary cum Treasurer, General Secretary and 8 regional Vice Presidents.

IVETA is an independent organization and is registered as Non-Government Organization (NGO)in the USA. IVETA financing is from membership dues. The organization has individual and/or organizational members in over 50 countries in all regions of the world and has linkages with many major national, bilateral, and international development organization working in the field of technical and vocational education.

The organization celebrated its 30 Year Anniversary in 2014. The celebration was held in two cities, Helsinki and St Petersburg. In 2015, IVETA organized its historical conference with begins at 07:30 am and ends at 20:00 pm, and has been attended by more than 2000 participants which was held in Kuching, Malaysia.

What is IVETA

IVETA is an organization and network of vocational educators, vocational skills training organization, business and industrial firm and other individuals and groups interested or involved in vocational education and training worldwide. The organization is dedicated to the advancement and improvement of high-quality Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) wherever it exists and wherever it is needed.

The organization is working to create a new era in communication among vocational educators around the globe. Members include practitioners, researchers, and students in the field of vocational education and training as well as institutions, organizations, and companies actively engaged in human resource and talent development.
