Why Educational Technologies Need Local Partners

The Experience of Implementing Digital Measurement Systems in Ukraine

International manufacturers of educational technologies are increasingly entering new markets where demand for modern solutions for science and STEM education is rapidly growing. However, even a high-quality product does not guarantee successful implementation in educational practice without proper local adaptation.

Experience in the Ukrainian market shows that effective integration of educational technologies into the learning process requires much more than the supply of equipment. It involves methodological adaptation, teacher support, translation and localization of materials, as well as long-term interaction with the educational community.

Since 2017, Elizlabs has been cooperating with international manufacturers of educational solutions, considering its role not as a distributor but as an implementation partner that helps adapt products to the national educational environment and ensures their actual use in schools. One example of such cooperation is the partnership with Data Harvest, a British manufacturer of wireless digital measurement sensors for science subjects.

The Ukrainian Educational Context: Opportunities and Challenges

Ukraine’s general secondary education system is undergoing a profound transformation aimed at developing student competencies and integrating modern approaches to teaching science subjects. In particular, the role of experimental activity, interdisciplinary integration, and working with real data is increasing.

In this context, digital measurement systems are becoming an important tool for modernizing the learning process. At the same time, access to technology alone does not ensure its effective use. What matters is the alignment of the product with national curricula, the availability of learning materials in the native language, and teacher preparation for working with new tools.

For this reason, the implementation of international educational solutions at the national level requires the involvement of local partners who understand the specifics of the education system and can ensure the full integration of technologies into classroom practice.m.
It should be systemic, structured, and sustainable.

A Partnership Model of Cooperation: The Experience of Elizlabs

From the beginning of its activities in the Ukrainian market, Elizlabs has viewed international cooperation as a long-term partnership aimed not only at supplying products but at developing their application within the educational environment.

This approach includes:

  • adaptation of products to national curricula
  • localization of software and instructional materials
  • development of methodological recommendations for teachers
  • conducting training on the use of equipment
  • service and consultation support for users
  • formation of a professional community around new educational tools

The purpose of this work is not only to promote the product in the market but to ensure its sustainable use in educational practice and to support the long-term presence of partners’ solutions within the Ukrainian education system.

Cooperation with Data Harvest: An Example of Localizing Digital Measurement Systems

Wireless digital sensors for science subjects have long become a standard tool for experimental learning in many countries around the world. They support an inquiry-based approach to learning, contribute to the development of data analysis skills, and enable the integration of experimental activity across different science subjects.

At the same time, the introduction of such technologies into a new educational environment requires significant localization work.

Within the cooperation with Data Harvest, a key task was to ensure the full integration of digital measurement systems into the learning process of Ukrainian schools. This included adapting the solutions to the structure of national curricula, teaching practices in science subjects, and the professional needs of teachers.

This experience confirms that the localization of educational technologies goes far beyond language adaptation and requires a deep understanding of the educational context of the country of implementation.

Supporting Teachers as a Key Condition for Effective Implementation

Experience working with Ukrainian schools shows that even the most advanced equipment requires methodological support for its full use.

For this reason, an important component of the partnership model was the organization of training activities for teachers, the preparation of practical recommendations on the use of digital sensors in lessons, as well as the provision of consultation and service support for users.

Such an approach not only increases the effectiveness of equipment use but also ensures the sustainability of its application in the learning process after implementation.

Feedback from Educators as a Resource for Product Development

An important component of international partnership is two-way communication between the manufacturer and users.

In the course of cooperation, Ukrainian teachers gain the opportunity to work with modern digital tools for experimental learning, while the manufacturer receives practical feedback on their use in a real educational environment.

Such an exchange of experience contributes to further product development and takes into account the needs of different education systems.

A Local Partner as a Factor of Successful Product Presence in a New Market

For international manufacturers of educational products, entering a new market is associated not only with opportunities for growth but also with risks — from insufficient understanding of the structure of the education system to situations where even a high-quality product remains limited in use after delivery.

In this context, a local partner acts as an intermediary between the manufacturer and the national educational environment, helping ensure the correct integration of technology into classroom practice, supporting users, and ensuring the continuity of its application in schools. Such interaction makes it possible not only to increase the effectiveness of implementation but also to preserve the reputation of the manufacturer’s brand in a new market.

Openness to New International Partnerships

The experience of cooperation with international manufacturers of educational technologies, in particular with Data Harvest, confirms the importance of long-term partnership models for implementing innovations in education.

Elizlabs remains open to cooperation with international developers of educational solutions who are interested in introducing their products in Ukraine and developing their practical application in the learning process.

We are proud to be part of the international professional community Worlddidac and consider partnership to be the foundation of the sustainable development of modern education.
