Dr Grigore Stamatescu

ASTI AUTOMATION SRL, Romania

Grigore Stamatescu was born in 1985 in Bucharest, Romania, and graduated as a diploma engineer in automation and applied informatics from the University Politehnica of Bucharest in 2009. In 2012 he obtained his PhD degree from the same institution with a thesis on wireless sensor networks and the Internet of Things. As part of his academic career, he was a 2015-2016 Fulbright Visting Scholar at the University of California Merced and a 2019 grantee of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) at the Complexity Science Hub in Vienna and the Graz University of Technology.

Dr Stamatescu is co-owner of Asti Automation, an industrial automation and technical training solutions company based in Bucharest, Romania, and a Worlddidac member since 2011. Within Asti Automation he is mainly responsible for export business development of the company’s own technical training solutions portfolio. This includes products, systems and services at the vocational/professional education, higher education and continuing education levels, covering areas such as industrial automation and digitalisation, mechatronics and robotics. Supporting a network of customers in 30+ countries on five continents, including schools, universities and industry training facilities, has led to a good understanding of both customer needs and expectations as well as the challenges in managing multi-stakeholder educational infracture development and skills training programs. Given his strong interest and background in international academic collaboration and business, he is also responsible for various strategy initiatives, international partnerships and r&d programs.

 Grigore Stamatescu is also a Professor of automation and industrial informatics at the University Politehnica of Bucharest and a Senior Member of IEEE.
